Rotator Cuff Injury

A Rotator Cuff Injury is a common shoulder injury that most commonly causes shoulder pain and shoulder aches. The part of the shoulder affected in a rotator cuff injury is the group of tendons and muscles around the shoulder joint that provide stability and movement.

Castle Connolly Top Doctors

Rotator Cuff Injuries occur frequently in athletes and people whose jobs involve frequent motion of the shoulders. These types of shoulder injuries are also more common in older patients. Other causes of a Rotator Cuff Injury include falling on your arm and lifting heavy items.

A Rotator Cuff Injury can be a Rotator Cuff Strain (shoulder strain) or a Rotator Cuff Tear (shoulder tear). While a torn Rotator Cuff is more severe than a Rotator Strain, strains should not be ignored, as they can get worse if left untreated.
